Experience the fun and excitement of playing in a steel drum ensemble.

Calypso, reggae, pop, rock and classical are some of the styles to be taught. Instruments are provided and no musical experience is necessary. Class will culminate with a live performance at the San Luis Obispo Farmer's Market.

ENROLLMENT IS LIMITED - REGISTER EARLY!

First level in a series of steel drum performance classes at Aircut Music Studio in San Luis Obispo. Introduction to Steel Drums is geared for students who love the sound of steel drums and would like to explore this art form, whether a musical novice or an experienced musician.

This hands-on class will give students the opportunity to play and perform fun music in a group setting. Rhythm skills, technical skills and cultural aspects will be addressed. Class pace moves according to the skill level of enrolled participants. This class is designed to introduce students to the world of steeldrums and to prepare students embarking on their study of the instrument.

Instruments will be provided. Various musical styles will be taught such as calypso, afro-Cuban, pop, reggae, and classical.

Class culminates with a live performance at SLO's Farmer's Market. Come and experience the fun!

This class is a follow-up to Introduction to Steeldrums. Intermediate Adults is for students continuing their study of the steeldrum. Students will rehearse a variety of musical genres such as calypso, reggae, pop and classical. Class pace will move according to the skill level of participants. Abilty to read sheet music is required. The level of music is low/medium.

Instruments will be provided. Class will culminate with a live performance at SLO's Farmer's Market.
